How do you find more leads in a down economy? Think beyond traditional marketing! Search Engine Optimization (SEO), is a cost-saving Internet technique that will help you increase traffic to your site and get quality leads in a tough market.

SEO is basically a fancy way to say: Get found on Google!

Search engines are the primary source of traffic on the Web. You have customers if you have traffic, and you get traffic if your site is easy to find, near the top of the Search Engine Results Pages. Connecting to your potential clients and referring partners on the search engines is done through a series of techniques known as SEO or search engine optimization. SEO is the ultimate targeted, low cost and high return weapon in your online promotional arsenal, and it's become too valuable of a marketing tool to ignore.

The Importance of Your Keywords

The goal of your search engine marketing efforts is to achieve high rankings in the major search engines for keyword phrases specific to the products or services you offer. Keywords are words or phrases someone types into a search engine like Google to find what they are looking for. Think about what potential clients or referring partners would type into Google to search for the services you provide. The words and phrases used by your target market to search online for you and/or your business are your keywords.

Use as your keywords the same words or phrases that you anticipate a local prospect would use to find your business on Google.

Write for How Your Target Audience Searches

The most important use of keywords is in the content of your web pages. Search engines will read through every single typed word on your website. The more keywords they find, the better for your search results. Be sure to add some keywords here and there in the actual content of your Homepage, the About Me page, and all your custom web pages. You can add phrases that include your locale, such as "Your [state name] home specialist." This will help you when someone uses a search engine to look for homes in a particular area and includes the state name in their search, such as "California homes."

Marketing Tip

Consider user intent when selecting keywords. Get inside the minds of potential clients to anticipate what they're searching for in home loan services. Make sure you write for how your target audience searches.
